Ozo Teriyaki Hawaiian Sliders Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

Burger Patties:

-1/4 cup green onions thinly sliced

-2 Ozo Burger Patties

-1/2 Jalapeño, minced

Teriyaki Pineapple Sauce:

-2 garlic cloves, minced

-1/4 cup soy sauce

-1/4 cup pineapple juice

-1 tbsp brown sugar

-1/2 tsp fresh ginger, grated

-1/4 cup Sweet Chili Sauce

-1/2 lime, squeezed

-1/2 tbsp corn starch

-1/4 cup cold water

Other:

-3 slider buns

-3 round pineapple slices

-butter lettuce

-red onion slices

-1 tsp Sesame seeds

-3 slices Monterrey Jack Cheese

[makes 3 sliders]

INSTRUCTIONS:

Patties: Place 2 Ozo Burger patties in a small mixing bowl. Add green onions and minced jalapeños, and mix by hand until well combined. Separate the mixture into thirds and roll each third into a small, lightly packed ball shape. Set them on a plate and take a spatula to each, lightly pressing down until a burger patty shape is formed.

Take a paper towel dipped in oil and wipe it across the slats of your grill to prevent your burgers from sticking. Turn your grill on to a medium-high heat and let it heat up before placing the patties on. Cook them 4-5 minutes on each side (Note: if burger is sticking to the grill, it’s not ready to flip). When the burgers are finished, place a slice of Monterrey Jack Cheese on each patty and pull off the grill. In the last few minutes that the burgers are cooking, add your pineapple slices to the grill and cook them for 1 ½-2 minutes each side before removing.

Sauce: Mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl and set to the side. Meanwhile, place garlic, soy sauce, pineapple juice, brown sugar, fresh ginger, Sweet Chili Sauce and lime juice in a small saucepan and cook on medium heat until mixture starts to boil. Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 13-15 minutes. Then add the cornstarch and water mixture to thicken the sauce and cook for another minute. Take the sauce off the heat to let it cool down while you plate your sliders.

Plating: Grab your 3 slider buns and place a piece of butter lettuce on each one. Then layer the cheesy burger patty and a grilled pineapple slice on top. Use a spoon to generously drizzle each slider with your sauce mixture and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Add red onion slices and top bun. Garnish with a toothpick and cherry tomato, if you please!
